The assessment of children with disabilities in Kabul, Afghanistan, reveals a significant gap in specialized healthcare services, particularly in functional orthopedics and psychosocial support. Many children face challenges in accessing essential care, which affects their physical mobility and emotional well-being. The need for comprehensive healthcare services tailored to these children's unique needs is critical to improving their quality of life, enhancing their independence, and fostering better integration into society. Provision of these specialized services is essential for their development and inclusion.

Mobility services are crucial for children with disabilities as they provide enhanced access to education, healthcare, social activities, and community engagement. These services enable children to overcome physical and environmental barriers, allowing them to participate more fully in daily life. For children with disabilities, reliable and accessible transportation is essential for independence, mobility, and inclusion. By ensuring that children with disabilities can travel safely and comfortably, mobility services promote equal opportunities, reduce isolation, and improve overall quality of life. They also empower families by reducing logistical challenges, making it easier to attend appointments, school, and social events. Ultimately, mobility services are a vital component in fostering inclusion, independence, and well-being for children with disabilities.

We are committed to ensuring that girls with disabilities have access to comprehensive health care and rehabilitation services that promote their well-being, independence, and full participation in society. We recognize that girls with disabilities often face unique challenges, and it is essential that our services address both their physical and emotional needs.

Our goal is to provide a holistic approach to care, integrating medical treatment, rehabilitation therapies, and mental health support, tailored to the specific needs of each girl. This includes, but is not limited to, access to medical specialists, physical therapy, assistive devices, speech therapy, psychological counseling, and assistive technologies.

We also strive to create an inclusive and accessible environment where girls with disabilities are treated with dignity, respect, and equality through provision of physical rehab services. We work closely with families, caregivers, and communities to ensure that these services are accessible, sustainable, and sensitive to the cultural and social needs of the girls and women with disabilities we serve.

We are happy to share that SAHAR Org Provision of Assistive Products for Women and Children with Disability to Ensure Their Access Education and Other Public Services has been shortlisted for the Zero Project Awards 2026!

This year’s awards focus on Accessibility, ICT, and Crisis Response, and our innovative work has earned recognition among 163 outstanding solutions, selected from 586 #ZeroCall26 nominations across 93 countries. We are proud to stand alongside organizations from every continent that are driving progress in disability inclusion.

Being shortlisted is a significant milestone for us, reflecting our commitment SAHAR’s vision is to promote the rights of people particularly children, women, person with disabilities, war victims to health care, rehabilitation, assistive devices, prosthetics and orthotics cares, psychosocial support, education, social services and community development to play a key role in the development of the societies.   

SAHAR’s mission statement to support the process of empowerment individuals, communities, grassroots civil society organizations and promote gender equity by improving development indicators pertaining to poverty reduction, WASH, health, rehabilitation, assistive devices, prosthetics and orthotics cares, education, human rights, environment and livelihood support to individuals or families in desperate need.

We look forward to the next stages: connecting with the global community, exchanging ideas, and learning from others.

The Zero Project’s selection process now continues and will involve hundreds of peer-review experts from around the world. We hope to be among this year’s Zero Project Awardees, which will be announced on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3rd).
